Awakening.
In the depths of an ancient palace, where time seemed to have stood still, lay a chamber shrouded in shadows and the remnants of a forgotten era. Amidst the debris and relics of a bygone age, wandered a young girl, her gaze never lifting from the worn ground beneath her feet.
Unaware of what awaited her outside, the world beckoned to her with the promise of warmth and light. Delicate sunbeams filtered through the iron bars of the window, casting a golden aura upon the cold stone floor. It was as if a whisper from another realm urged her to draw near, to embrace the light that danced alluringly just beyond her reach.
With hesitant steps, she approached the window, its iron bars a reminder of her confinement within the palace walls. Yet, as she drew closer, a strange sensation enveloped her: a sense of liberation, of possibilities waiting to unfold like blossoming petals.
Shadows receded, replaced by a radiant glow that seemed to emanate from within her very being. In that moment, she was not merely a mortal confined to the darkness of the palace; she was a beacon of hope, a symbol of resilience against the forces that sought to imprison her spirit.
And so, in the heart of that ancient chamber, amidst the ruins of a forgotten time, the young girl found herself at the threshold of a new beginning. RASADOR
In the heart of an ancient Devil’s Palace stood the mysterious “Rasador,” a rectangular pit with shadowy edges and blades at the bottom, known for centuries as a place of sacrifice. Legend has it of a young girl, Isabel, ensnared by the intricate magics of the palace, destined for sacrifice to the devil.
Embracing her fate with courage, Isabel crouches with the dignity of one who embraces the mystery of eternal night. Every detail of the work captures the intensity of the moment: the chiaroscuro of the pit, her gaze lowered towards the deep darkness, and the veil of uncertainty that envelops the surroundings.
The “Rasador” becomes the stage for a profound narrative, an ancestral ritual unfolding in the shadows of time. I live in front of the sea, I often sail, I have some sailor friends (sailors are always connected to tattoo artists). I wanted to make a piece that would mean the hopes of those on the high seas, now with technology, phones and easier to stay in touch.
But hundreds of years ago the sailors had only the hopes: to return home, to survive to resist until the end. The bottle in the sea always symbolizes the message. The lights that rise from the ship in the bottle – symbolize the thoughts, the hopes … flying towards the house, towards those who they are thinking about … That’s all. I really like taking objects with me to the shore to look for the right framing to give birth to a story.
